Somatic Research and Training
Novato Institute Statement of Purpose
The Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training was founded in 1975 by Thomas Hanna and Eleanor Criswell Hanna. The Novato Institute is devoted to somatics theory, practice, and research. Somatics is a method for reawakening the mind's control of movement, flexibility, and health. We are committed to the actualization of full human potential for all people within a healthy environmental context. To facilitate that process, we engage in educational activities that include publishing SOMATICS Magazine and selected books, producing and distributing CDs and DVDs, conducting workshops and professional trainings, and working with individual clients.
Individual Hanna Somatics lessons are available at The Novato Institute with Eleanor Criswell Hanna, Ed.D. Hanna Somatics, introduced in Thomas Hanna's book Somatics, is a valuable way to develop full somatic potential. Having an individual Hanna Somatics lesson is an excellent way to begin your somatics practice or to give yourself a somatic tune-up in conjunction with other health maintenance practices. The goal is for you to become your own somatic educator. Somatic education enables you to become more effective in whatever you do.
